Experimenting with different techniques at the House of Illustration

This summer, I attended a 6-week course in Intermediate Illustration at the House of Illustration, taught by Merlin Strangeway. I have a lot of trouble motivating myself to work on my artwork unless there’s a specific project or client demanding it, and I wanted to try out different techniques I was not familiar with. Indeed, each week on the course we experimented with something different: drawing in charcoal, painting with watercolours and inks, collage with paper and fabric. You can see some of the results above.

My main takeaway from the course was that I enjoy ink more than I expected and that I should play around with drawing inks a bit more.
